| Four years ago, Immaculate Conception School was saddened by the untimely and sudden passing of one of its greatest friends and boosters, Jim Feeney. Jim's friends established a scholarship at Immaculate Conception School for families who were unable to pay all or part of their tuition and fees. Jim always said that Catholic education at I.C.S. should be available to all students regardless of their family's financial circumstances. Several I.C.S. families are currently experiencing financial conditions that may cause them to reconsider their enrollment at the school. I want to continue to make financial aid available for these families as well as families enrolling at the school for the first time. During the past three years, the Jim Feeney Scholarship has provided more than $50,000 in financial aid for I.C.S. students. In order to continue to help financially needy students, it is necessary that the funds in the Jim Feeney Scholarship continue to be replenished. I am seeking sponsors for my participation in this year's Ragbrai Ride Bicycle Ride. This is a 442 mile bike ride across the State of Iowa that will take place from July 19 through 25. It is my hope many friends of I.C.S. will make a donation to help provide Catholic education at I.C.S. for all students. The I.C.S. community will be grateful for donations of any amount. I will personally cover any cost for my participation in this event. All sponsor fees will be given to the Jim Feeney Scholarship. The Ragbrai represents quite a physical challenge for a senior citizen like myself. I am very inspired by the opportunity to help I.C.S. families continue their Catholic education.
